Petal Shield

Petal Shield creates spazz-temple experimental country music for voice, tape machines, guitars, synthesizers, radios, samplers, and resonance percussion. We might sound like George Jones, Loren Connors, Eliane Radigue, DJ Screw, and Alvin Curran recording shaman homages to Robert Ashley’s ring-mod drifter operas onto disintegrating tape in an underground cistern filled with frogs, bats, and shortwave radios. Hallucinatory passages of pure sound dissolve into the airwaves as lovely koans, soul-folk images, and bursts of scrambled language are time-stretched and rebroadcast as new beacons to a strange public.
